Is Gelish Structure a builder gel?
Yes! Gelish Structure is a builder gel. It's favoured because it is lighter and more versatile than traditional hard builder gels. This Gelish brush-on builder gel is designed to strengthen the natural nail and provide a smooth surface for gel polish application. You can use it to repair small cracks, add strength or create a slight apex for naturally looking long nails.
Due to its lighter nature, Gelish Structure Builder Gel is ideal for enhancements like overlays and minor extensions when using nail forms or tips. However, our collection also includes Gelish hard builder gel options for more structurally sound enhancements.
How to use Gelish builder gel
Use and apply Gelish builder gel like you would any other gel polish.
You will need:
-
Gelish Structure builder gel
-
Gelish gel colour (if using)
-
Nail forms or tips (if extending the nails)
-
Brush (optional for shaping)
Steps:
-
Prepare the nail as normal: Push back and clean the cuticles, shape the nails using a nail file, gently buff the nail surface to remove shine and clean the nails with Gelish Cleanser or alcohol.
-
Apply a dehydrator: Use the Gelish pH Bond on your natural nail to dehydrate and prep the surface for better adhesion.
-
Apply the base coat: Apply a thin Gelish Foundation base gel coat and cure under a UV/LED lamp (30 seconds for LED, 2 minutes for UV).
-
Apply the Gelish builder gel: Use a brush or the product applicator to apply a layer of Gelish Structure Gel. If you're building an apex or adding thickness, use multiple thin layers to avoid bulkiness. Cure each layer under the UV/LED lamp (30 seconds for LED, 2 minutes for UV). For extensions, use nail forms or tips. Apply the gel to the desired length, shaping it carefully, and cure before removing the form.
-
Shape and buff if needed: After curing, use a nail file to refine the shape and a buffer for smoothing.
-
Apply gel colour: Add your gel colour now if using.
-
Apply top coat: Apply a thin layer of Gelish top coat to seal and protect the nails. Then, cure under a UV/LED lamp.
-
Cleanse the nails: After curing, use Gelish Cleanser or isopropyl alcohol to remove the sticky inhibition layer. If you use a Gelish No Wipe top coat, skip this step.
-
Finishing touches: Apply cuticle oil to nourish the cuticles.
When using Gelish builder gel, apply thin layers to prevent bubbling and uneven curing, and cure each layer under the lamp. Always use a good-quality brush for better control, especially when building an apex.
